My name is Fridah Ijai, and I am a Kenyan visual artist based in Nairobi. I have built a diverse and accomplished career in the arts, working primarily with oil painting, mixed media, and murals. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kenyatta University, where I gained a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary techniques.
My art gives voice to the underrepresented, the unheard, and the unseen. It explores themes of resilience, identity, belonging, and transformation. Through painting and mixed media, I engage with narratives of women’s empowerment, creating work that amplifies women’s voices in society. Every brushstroke and every color choice is intentional—each piece a deliberate act of reclaiming space.
As I continue to grow as an artist, my goal is to create spaces where stories like mine are not only seen but celebrated. For me, art is not just about making images—it is about making visibility. It is about paving the way for future generations of women, empowering them to claim their place in the art world and beyond.
